Join our team

Outward Bound are an educational charity that take young people on learning and adventure courses in the wild. We have two roles going in our facilities team right now, roles that ensure our equipment is safe and ready to be used on adventure and that our buildings are well maintained, secure and comfortable.

Role 1:

Stores technician

We need a Stores Technician to:

  • Manage our modern equipment centre - setting up, cleaning, issuing and checking the return of equipment used on course.
  • Help maintain / mend equipment. From camping equipment to PPE, using hand tools to a sewing machine! (some training available)
  • Keep the stores area to a very high standard of safety and cleanliness.
  • Work with colleagues to identify and source the best equipment and resources to enhance safety and our participants experience.

Role 2:

Boat and maintenance technician

Our Boat and General Maintenance Technician will:

  • Check and maintain our boat fleet, including power boats, rowing gigs, canoes, sea kayaks and all associated marine equipment/PPE.
  • Look after our loch-side facilities, including boat house, foreshore, slipways, pontoon and moorings.
  • Check and maintain the centre fleet of trailers.
  • Drive power boats as required. You'll need a minimum of RYA Level 2 powerboat (all boat experience will be considered and some training can be provided).

You'll need

  • Experience of working in building / grounds maintenance
  • A full UK driving licence (a minibus D1 + E would be great)
  • To be able to accurately record safety information
  • Great time management and be well organised
  • To be able to work on your own and as a part of different teams
