The below photos are from my Kenyan Outward Bound adventure as a schoolboy in Nairobi in the fifties. It certainly gave me the bug as I went on to climb Mount Kilimanjaro 9 more times, once from the Kenya side and 8 times from the Tanganyika (now Tanzania) side. Each climb cost no more than £5.00. we carried all our own food and equipment and had no guides or porters.
