Ronald McAlpine - Moray Sea School, Burghead Scotland, 1962
As a young laddie aged 14yrs,I attended a 1 month course at the Moray sea-school Burghead Morayshire. The highlight of all the activities on offer was the trip on the Prince Louis, which was a three masted Schooner and which sailed from Burghead to the Shetland Islands. As I was an athletically minded lad I came under the influence of a Mr Clive Dennis whom I believe was an English Olympic athlete,as I am now 70 years of age I can still recall the enjoyment I had on the course.I later joined the Royal Navy (1960)and after serving 2 years on HMS Blake (A Tiger Class Heavy Cruiser)I joined Submarines and served on them for 7 years.I then joined the City of Glasgow Police which later became Strathclyde Police and after serving 30 years I am now retired.I will never forget my months stay at the Moray Sea School which I believe made me the person I am today.
