Robert Ellison - Loch Eil, Scottish Highlands, 1982
It was the coldest february in 1982 for several years, on the train journey from Glasgow to the centre at Loch Eil we had to open our suitcases and put on extra clothing as it was so cold in the train, before we even got to commence the course. During the course we experienced frozen water fall ice climbing, expeditions in snow covered mountains and snow sledging in our emergency bivvy bags. The solo expedition is still a memory that I will never forget and capsize drill from the canoes in the Loch Eil in February is an experience !!!!!!!!!!!!! never forgotten.
This course was the fundimental castalyst to my learning experience that assisted me throughout my career in the last thirty years
