Iain (Mac) MacGregor - Aberdovey, Wales, 1981
I applied to join the Royal Marines just before attending the course in Aberdovey. I was in two minds about joining after being accepted, and decided that if I performed well on the course that I would send in my acceptance card to the Marines, and commence training.
My course was challenging, but I did well, and indeed started my Marines trainingas a direct result of the Outward Bound course.
Within a year I was serving on active duty in the Falklands Campaign. This was indeed the hardest challenge I have ever done (I did the 'Yomp'), but it is something I am proud to have done.
