Charles Sutton - Ullswater, The Lake District, 1964
I attended course U101 while a Technical Apprentice with British Steel. It was regarded as personal development.
I was in Mallory patrol with some very good young people.
My least favourite moments were the early morning dips in Ullswater Lake stark naked and the 3 day hikes on the fells.
My special memory was winning the canoe races for Mallory Patrol with a young man called Pete. I also enjoyed the canoeing on the River Derwent, Derwent Water / Bassenthwaite Lake and the fell race over Gowbarrow Fell.
The food was excellent particularly the flapjacks.
Great experience and memories.
